Firearms licence and vetting

Owning or using a firearm in the district needs a licence. Getting one takes a safety course, an application, and an interview.

Getting a licence

  1. Pass the safety course. Book a session with a range officer at Rangitoto Central. It covers safe handling, storage, and the firearms code.
  2. Apply. Fill in the form below with two referees: one family member and one person who isn't related to you.
  3. Interview and home check. A vetting officer interviews you and your referees, and checks that you have a locked safe.
  4. Decision. We tell you the outcome in-game and by Discord. A licence lasts 10 real-life weeks before renewal.

Police vetting

Vetting checks a person's record before they join a group role, such as a security company or a job working with children. Ask the organisation to send us a request. We don't take vetting requests from individuals about other people.
